Kim and Carl at The Manse Retreat in Northamptonshire

Our Story - This work is built on both lived experience and decades of working with others.

Carl lost his father as a child, his mother as a young man, and his only son, James, in 2024.

Those experiences brought a deep and personal understanding of grief and emotional pain, something lived and not just theoretical. They also raised questions that many people quietly carry:

How do you keep moving forward when something changes your world completely?

Over time, that search became a determination, not just to find a way through for himself, but to help others who feel stuck in the weight of what they’ve been through.

At 15, Kim emigrated to Australia, adapting to a completely new life at a young age.  By 22, she was raising a child on her own, and in her early twenties, she experienced a nervous breakdown that forced her to reassess everything.

She later faced ongoing health challenges, including ME, and was directly impacted by the 7/7 London bombings, an experiences that deepened her understanding of how life events can stay with us long after they’ve passed.

When we met, something just made sense.  We realised that between us, we weren’t just bringing different skills, we were bringing different perspectives on the same problem: why people stay stuck, even when they want to move forward.

Our work began with The Manse Retreat, at our home in Northamptonshire, a former vicarage known as The Manse.

But over time, it became clear that what we were doing couldn’t be contained to one place.

That’s where The Manse Method®, our 5 STEPS Transformation approach, came from.

What We Do

Through our retreats and private work, we support people who feel stuck with something from the past, whether that’s emotional trauma, PTSD, grief, phobias, or experiences they simply can’t seem to move beyond.

The Manse Method® was developed as a practical, psycho-sensory approach designed to change how those experiences feel, without the need to talk through them in detail.

Alongside this, we continue to work with individuals in a private setting, offering support that is calm, structured, and focused on helping people move forward.

Why We Do This

Because we’ve lived through life’s challenges ourselves.

Because we’ve seen how much people can carry, often silently.

And because we know that when something finally shifts, everything else can begin to change too.
